My passion for Japanese culture began in graduate school in the mid 1970's while studying Japanese art history. I carried away a sensibility for integrity in craftsmanship, design and a truth to materials that I continue to hold today.

Some of my current work represented in these galleries is inspired by the Japanese Ukeoy-e woodblock prints of the 16th century. As I paint the decorations on the clay surface, my mind often wonders to how the original artists related to their creations.

I hope you will find pleasure in viewing my interpretation of these marvelous designs created so long ago.
